Tropic of Cancer

Mexico is the southernmost country in North America. This region is famous for its sunny climate, rich culture, and ecological diversity.

Here, the United States of America runs along the northern border. Meanwhile, to the southwest lies Guatemala and Belize.

Due to its location as a bridge between North and Central America, several bodies of water kiss this country’s coasts. These include the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

Notably, water surrounds the peninsula of Baja California. To the west of this peninsula lies the Pacific Ocean. Meanwhile, to the east, the Gulf of California divides Baja from the mainland.

Multiple climates contribute to this country’s beauty. That’s because the Tropic of Cancer divides the country into temperate and tropical zones. Hence, land north of the 24th parallel experiences cooler temperatures during the winter months. Meanwhile, south of the 24th parallel, temperatures are fairly constant year round.

This country ranks fourth in the world in biodiversity. With over 200,000 types of plant an animal life, it’s home of 10–12% of the world’s species.
