Canis lupus

Wolves are large, carnivorous mammals of the dog family Canidae, especially C. lupus. They usually hunt in packs. Though these animals used to be common throughout the Northern Hemisphere, they now only live in unpopulated areas.

The gray wolf, or Canis lupus, is the most common type of this animal. It lives in wilderness areas in North America and Eurasia. A large animal, males of this species can weigh as much as 99 lbs, and females as much as 85 lbs. Famous for their close social bonds, this animal lives in extended families, or packs. These consist of a mated pair and their adult children.
