Red Lored Amazon
The red-lored amazon or red-lored parrot (Amazona autumnalis) is a species of amazon parrot. It’s native to tropical regions of the Americas, from eastern Mexico south to Ecuador. However, it’s only found in humid evergreen to semi-deciduous forests up to 1,100 m altitude.
Sprightly and active, this parrot measures 32–35 cm (13 in) in length, with a weight of 310–480 g. It’s robust plumage is primarily green, though it boasts red forehead and, in some subspecies, yellow cheeks. Meanwhile, its crown is blue.
Like all parrots, red-lored amazons eat a varied diet of nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables. It nests in tree cavities. There, it lays white eggs—three or four in a clutch. Because of its shiny green feathers and soaring flight, this parrot provides a feast for the senses.
