Rissa brevirostris

The red-legged kittiwake (Rissa brevirostris) is a seabird in the gull family. It breeds in the Pribilof Islands, Bogoslof Island and Buldir Island in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska, as well as in the Commander Islands, Russia. Meanwhile, it winters at sea.

This bird feeds on fish such as lanternfish, squid and invertebrates. It nests on ledges, and migrates to sea in September. Then it overwinters in the north eastern Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Alaska.
