Yasur Volcano is volcano on Tanna Island in Vanuatu. At 1,184 ft above sea level, it’s one of the most active volcanoes in the world. That’s because it’s been erupting almost continuously for hundreds of years.

The volcano spews incandescent cinder and lava bombs at a volcanic explosivity index of about 2-3. At this level, the fiery effusion reaches tens to a few hundred meters into the air.

Sailors can spot the glowing ash from miles away. In fact, some reports claim that this volcano is what attracted European explorers to the islands in 1774.
