Ocean and Cliffs

San Elijo State Beach is a state beach near San Diego, California. It lies by San Elijo Lagoon, adjacent to the Cardiff State Beach.

Because of it’s location in the Cardiff area of San Diego, this is a great place to camp. Natural wonder stretches to one side of the campground, while to the other side looms a boardwalk as well as restaurants and grocery stores. The beach itself offers swimming, surfing, boogie-boarding and skim-boarding.

Down a long, winding staircase, rests the narrow stretch of sand and the vast ocean. Nearby, a reef is popular with snorkelers and divers. Also, at low tide, there is a tide pool containing copious sea life.

Jellyfish are frequent in the area. Many see them during the day or at low tide.
